About Me
Hello, my name is Jessi Ortega.
I’m a transfer student currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Information Science with a concentration in Information Security. I previously earned my Associate’s in Computer Programming and Analysis from Hillsborough Community College.
Originally from the Bronx, New York, I moved to Florida with my parents when I was in middle school. Both of my parents are from Venezuela, so I speak Spanish fluently. My passion for technology led me to pursue a career in this field.
Outside of school, I have a variety of hobbies. I enjoy fishing, playing video games, and watching and betting on sports. I’m also a big fan of trying new foods, though sushi and anything fish-related. I like staying active by going for runs/working out and I enjoy hanging out with friends for drinks.
In addition to my studies, I served in the Coast Guard. I also worked as a medical assistant for a general surgeon, gaining valuable knowledge in the medical field. However, I realized that my true passion lies in the tech industry, which is why I decided to shift my focus.
Currently, I work for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), one of the largest professional services networks in the world. I also have a side hustle as an online reseller, buying and selling items on platforms like eBay and Amazon.
